About the Organization
We were created in Lincoln in 1979, due to one woman being the person in the neighborhood who cared for wild animals that people found. It is illegal to care for wildlife, so she talked to Nebraska Game and Parks and created a group and rec'd a permit from Game and Parks where we can rescue, rehab and release wildlife that are native to Nebraska. We also have permits from US Fish and Wildlife in order to handle migratory birds and waterfowl. We have our mail sent to Lincoln, but we are in-home rehabbers - we do NOT have a facility to work out of, we all work from our homes, garages, barns, acreages in order to care for wildlife. We have people who volunteer across the state of Nebraska (we are ALL volunteers) to be rescuers and rehabbers. All of the money that is donated to us as donations and/or membership dues goes to care for the animals - vet bills, formula, food, caging, bedding, medical supplies, etc. We care for over 2,000 animals each year.
