Make-A-Wish Nebraska

About the Organization

The Make-A-Wish Foundation began in Phoenix, Arizona in 1980 with the story of a 7-year-old boy named Christopher Greicius and his inspiring wish to become a police officer. Since then, over 400,000 wishes have been granted to children battling life-threatening illnesses across the world, with 62 chapters across the United States and 36 international affiliates. The Nebraska chapter began in 1983 and has granted more than 3,000 wishes to children across the state.

These wishes can be anything from exploring Hawaii, becoming transformed into a prince or princess on a trip to Walt Disney World, swinging away on a play structure in the backyard, or going on a shopping spree. Each wish is personalized to honor that heartfelt wish of the child. For the families we serve, it's a joyous moment where fantasy and laughter take over amid a much darker time in the child's life and in the life of the family. Take a moment to look at the photos of children experiencing their wish come true and imagine being a child and having this question with its endless possibilities posed to you.
