Wood River Community Centennial Foundation

About the Organization

Over 40 years ago a forward-looking lady (Donna Moyer) dreamed of a community foundation to establish a "vessel" to support the growth and development of Wood River. Forward 40 years, the Wood River Community Centennial Foundation was formed (with remaining funds from the town's centennial celebration), donations, memorials and legacies were received. The Wood River Community Centennial is registered with the State of Nebraska as a Nebraska Nonprofit Corporation and received the Federal Tax Exempt status. Working with various groups in the Wood River Community the Foundation has served to award matching grants including (Wood River Fire & Rescue, Stick Creek, Kids, Legacy Station, Wood River Elementary and Wood River Rural High School), seed money (WRRH Nursing Program, WRVFD/EMT Class, Close-up), receptacle for programs (i.e. Celebrate Wood River) and grants for the community. Over ONE MILLION DOLLARS ($1,014,682.75) has been awarded back to the community in the form of approved grants (342) and scholarships (531+) for the Wood River Rural High graduating Seniors.

A complete list of grants and scholarships awarded may be found on our webpage, wrcommunityfoundation.com
