Stuhr Museum Foundation

About the Organization

Stuhr Museum's far-reaching impact provides on-site, virtual, and offsite programs giving visitors an opportunity to be transported to the nineteenth century by seeing, touching, & experiencing historical artifacts throughout the campus. The 1860's log cabin settlement, railroad town, the Glaciarium & rural community buildings across the campus serve as the backdrop for Stuhr's classes, lectures, and visitor interactions. In Stuhr's 1890s railroad town visitors are encouraged to engage with historic interpreters attired in period clothing. To complement seasonal outdoor exhibits, the Leo B. Stuhr Building, designed by renowned architect Edward Durell Stone, and the Gus Fonner Memorial Rotunda are open year-round. Stuhr Museum and Foundation support & host cultural & community events at the museum including Farm to Table Dinner on the Prairie, Wings Over the Platte Exhibition, Independence Day celebrations, Veteran appreciation events, All Hallows Eve celebrations, & Christmas Past & Present.
