The Salvation Army-Grand Island

About the Organization

Originally founded in 1865 by William Booth with the mission to serve the poor, homeless, hungry and destitute of London, The Salvation Army was established in the United States in 1879. The Salvation Army is an international, faith-based, not-for-profit organization that provides social services and meets basic human needs without discrimination. It has a long-standing reputation for identifying and serving those who are most in need, including individuals with mental illness, senior citizens, the homeless, individuals in addiction recovery, families in crisis and children. The Salvation Army promotes community diversity and does not require its clients to participate in the Salvation Army faith-based activities. The Grand Island Salvation Army meets our community needs with a variety of services and programs that provide individuals and families in-need with the resources required to move toward and maintain independence.
