Junior Achievement District of Grand Island

About the Organization

At Junior Achievement, we recognize the importance of preparing today's young people - our future leaders - for their financial futures, tomorrow's workforce, and the future economy. Our vision is to empower our young people to challenge the cycle of poverty in their lives and equip the next generation of leaders with the knowledge, skills, and capacity to be successful. JA is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students in grades K-12 about entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Our programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs that make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace.

Annually, over 60 volunteers from the Grand Island community teach over 1,500 K-12 Grand Island students how to manage money, give them tools to develop their professional futures, and teach them about the economy and workforce they will be part of. JA in Grand Island is a district operation under the larger umbrella of Junior Achievement of Lincoln which was founded in 1971.
