About the Organization
The Hamilton County Inclusive Playground project was envisioned by passionate community members to meet a need in the Hamilton County area. The vision of this organization is to create a universally inclusive play space where children can engage in parallel play and multi-generations of families can play together. Our goal is to go beyond simply meeting ADA accessibility requirements. The design will include poured rubber surfacing within the playground to ease accessibility for those of all abilities. The design will include shaded shelters with wheelchair accessible picnic tables, benches, and accessible bathrooms with adult-sized changing tables. The playground will include parallel play opportunities where typically developing children can play side-by-side with children using mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches. Additionally, this project will incorporate features to support differing needs like communication boards and a quiet zone that's sensory-friendly. The playground will be enclosed with a fence so families can feel a sense of security while their children are playing.
