This fund was initially established through the Nebraska State Fair's generous gift to the City of Grand Island in 2015. From there, Mayor Jeremy Jensen and the City Council approved the allocation of $20,000 of the $100,000 State Fair gift to be earmarked for this particular activities fund. Children are limited to $100 per calendar year for assistance, but can request funds every 12 months if needed. No child should be excluded from participation due to financial hardship.
